Admission Criteria

2.0 Cumulative
College GPA for most programs.
- Some programs require
a 2.5 Cumulative College GPA for admission at the junior and senior
level. Check the
UMaine
undergraduate catalog for specific programs.
- The College of
Education strongly recommends PRAXIS I for transfers with 45 or more
credits with the exception of the Child Development and Family Studies
program.

Essay
Official transcripts
from each individual institution attended whether or not credit was
earned
Official final high
school transcript or GED (may be waived for students with 60 or more
transferable credits.
SAT or ACT (may
be waived if transferring 12 or more college level credits)

Transfer Credit Evaluations
Prepared at the
Office of Student Records (tel. 207-581-1319) during the admission
decision process.
- Your credits are
evaluated through a process in the Office of Student Records after you
have been offered admission to the University. Once you have been
admitted you may view your credit evaluation on line at the
MaineStreet Portal in the Student Self Service Center.
- Pre-admission credit
assessment (unofficial) is handled as time permits by the Office of
Student Records. (207-581-1319) If you are transferring from a UMaine
System campus or from a Maine Community College please go to the
Online transfer equivalency search tool for UMaine course
equivalencies. For specific equivalency information for other
institutions please contact the Office of Student Records.

Interviews
Interviews are not
required however transfers are welcome to set up a visit to the UMaine
campus for informational purposes. An admission officer can be available
to answer your transfer and other questions by appointment.

Scholarships
Eligibility: Students who transfer to the University of Maine with an
exceptional academic record from their prior college or university as
measured by the cumulative grade point average of all prior college
course work. Award Amount: One-time, $1000 award.
- Phi Theta Kappa
Scholarship
Eligibility: Students who transfer to the University of Maine with
an exceptional academic record from their prior college as measured
by the cumulative grade point average of all prior college course
work and who held membership in Phi Theta Kappa at a community
college. Award Amount: One-time, $1000 award.
- Maine Community
College Scholarship
Eligibility: Students who transfer to the University of Maine from
one of Maine's Community Colleges with an exceptional academic
record as measured by the cumulative grade point average of all
prior college course work. One for each of Maine's seven Community
Colleges. Award Amount: One-time, $1000 award.
- UMaine Transfer
Scholarship
Eligibility: Students who transfer to the University with an
exceptional academic record from their prior college or university
as measured by the cumulative grade point average of all prior
college course work. Award amount: One time $1,000 award.
