Consider Early Action
November 16th, 2009
At UMaine, it pays to be early.
If your application materials are postmarked by our early action deadline, December 15, you will get first priority for merit scholarships awarded by the Admissions Office.
If your senior grades aren’t available by December 15, grades through the end of the junior year will be used in the initial review. Early action candidates will be notified by February 1. At UMaine, early action is not restrictive and nonbinding.
So what are you waiting for? Apply now. And if you have any questions, send us an e-mail (um-admit@maine.edu) or call us at (207) 581-1561. We’re here to help.

November 9 Open House
October 21st, 2009
The other day, we were talking to Carly Gaudette, a chemistry major and Honors student from New Hampshire. When asked why she chose UMaine, her answer didn’t surprise us at all:
“I visited the spring of my junior year of high school and I noticed how nice the people were,” she said. “I really fell in love with the school and the people.”
You can have a similar experience during our Nov. 9 open house program, which will give you a chance to meet students, learn about academic and research opportunities and tour campus. Mark your calendar.
For more information, visit www.go.umaine.edu/openhouse.html. To register, call the Office of Admissions by phone at 1-877-486-2364 or e-mail um-admit@maine.edu. Please provide your name, telephone number, mailind address, number of people in your party, and the date of the program you will be attending. If accommodations for physical disabilities are required, please notify us in advance.
At the University of Maine, you’re in a great place.

Fall SAT Reminder
August 26th, 2009
If you’re planning to take the SAT this fall, you may want to consider taking the October test so your results will be ready in time for UMaine’s December 15 early action deadline.
You’ll need to register for the October test by September 9. At UMaine, we use your the highest critical reading (CR) and math (M) scores from multiple tests, so it is to your advantage to submit all of your test scores to UMaine. We also accept ACT results.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at the number or e-mail address above.
Good luck!
